Asesores de pacientes y familias
At Christiana Care Health System, we serve our neighbors as respectful, caring, expert partners in their health. That partnership involves open communication and making sure that we include our patients and their families at every level. It involves treating everyone with dignity and respect, and collaborating with the people we serve to ensure that we aren’t just providing care for our patients— we’re providing care with them. This is one of the keys to delivering the very best health care.
Patient and family advisers help us in this mission. They are volunteers who have a special interest in helping to shape the ways in which we deliver care. As former patients or family members of patients, they share their perspective to help the doctors, nurses and staff at Christiana Care create the best experience for our patients.
Who can be an adviser?
Any patient or family member who has received services at Christiana Care within the last two years, and who would like to volunteer for two or more hours per month.
What do advisers do?
Advisers share their personal experiences to provide a patient’s-eye-view for councils, teams and committees at Christiana Care. They provide feedback and input on projects as part of a patient and family advisory council, or as a member of a committee, team or work group focused on a specific task or project. They serve as ambassadors to promote patient and family centered care throughout Christiana Care.
What training is provided?
Patient and family advisers participate in the Christiana Care volunteer training process, which includes an orientation to the hospital system, basic safety and hospital etiquette, diversity and inclusion, and privacy and confidentiality. The training process takes between two and four hours.
